Morihei Usedhiba observed “The Art of Peace begins with you.”
There has been a growing trend in recent years of achieving mindfulness through creative processes. This has spurred such things as colouring books, pottery painting and (not so ironically) taking up knitting to flourish and take flight. This movement has allowed a swathe of people to channel the anxieties and challenges of life into something tangible and pleasing to both the soul and the eye.
This sort of thinking inspired one Londoner, Zena El Farra, to create the city’s first ever mindful art experience, MasterPeace. Nestled in the heart of Belgravia, the MasterPeace studios centre their work on three core elements: wellbeing, community and creative inspiration. They invite people from all walks of life to create thoughtful, personal works of art, whilst grazing on delicious food, and chatting with like-minded people. During a class, you’ll be able to create stunning works of art in a mere 90 minutes, even if you’re a complete beginner and this will be thanks to your expert teachers. At MasterPeace, you’ll be guided by professional artists, who have all been trained in some of the most prestigious art institutions in Europe.
Take the artist Lara Robinson, for example. She has been trained at the Charles H Cecil Studies in Florence before graduating with a diploma from The Barcelona Academy of Art in 2019. She is one of the talented team who will show you how splash, scrape, layer and pour out your worries onto the page to create something beautiful and meaningful to you.
So take a moment for yourself at the start of this year and spend time in this mindful space and when you leave, you will have a memento of how your own peace began with art.
